The cover of this slim volume boasts that this is "A Year Book Special Edition," but, unfortunately, there is little that is special about it. This is no more than a rehash of articles from other Year Book editions that pertain—sometimes directly, often tangentially—to adolescents. Of the hundreds of articles abstracted, only two come from the Journal of Adolescent Health Care (the official journal of the Society for Adolescent Medicine), and these two are the only ones that receive "fresh" reviews. All of the others are printed as they appeared in previous (non–"special edition") Year Books; none of the reviewers include an adolescent medicine specialist, and only two are even pediatricians!
The Year Book series is well known for its ability to provide short but incisive reviews of the current literature in nearly any field. The reader's expectation on buying this volume is that the field of adolescent medicine
