IT IS MY GREAT PRIVILEGE and pleasure to introduce the readers of the journal to the new editor, Catherine D. DeAngelis, MD. Cathy, as she is affectionately known to her many friends and colleagues, is an accomplished academician, a superb teacher, a tireless worker, and a dedicated pediatrician. She also is a warm, outgoing person who instantly befriends those with whom she comes in contact. Cathy is married to James C. Harris, MD, a psychiatrist, and they live in Baltimore, Md.
Cathy leads the journal to its next era, which is signaled by the change in name from the American Journal of Diseases of Children (aka AJDC) to the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine. A refreshing new format accompanies the editorial appointment and the change in name, completing the transition.
Cathy is a much respected pediatrician with broad educational background and professional experience. She received her nursing degree from
Fulginiti VA. Transitions. Am J Dis Child. 1994;148(1):17–18. doi:10.1001/archpedi.1994.02170010019002
