The importance of diet and nutritional therapy in pediatric medicine has been increasingly emphasized in recent years. A select group of authors from the Pediatric Group of the British Dietetic Association has written Clinical Paediatric Dietetics as a manual to give health care providers medical information and guidelines for practical approaches to meet the specific nutritional needs of patients with pediatric disorders.

The contents have been grouped into sections as follows: "Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition," "Preterm and Low BirthWeight Infants," "Diseases of Organ Systems," "Inborn Errors of Metabolism," "Lipids," "Peroxisomal Disorders," "Childhood Cancers," "Eating Disorders," "Obesity," and "Other Conditions Requiring Nutritional Support and Advice." The topics covered are extensive. Chapters on commonly known pediatric disorders such as diabetes, cystic fibrosis, food allergy, and celiac disease are included, but also included are chapters on less common clinical problems.
