Abstract

Parental concerns about their young children's sleep are among the most frequent behavioral problems discussed with pediatricians. The diagnosis and treatment of sleep problems in infants and children are discussed in this concise and practical textbook.

The authors state that the book is for any professional who sees children (or parents of children) with sleep problems including pediatricians, primary care physicians, nurses, mental health workers, pulmonologists, neurologists, and specialists in sleep medicine.

This 21-chapter text is divided into 2 parts. The first consists of a review of normal sleep patterns and clinical assessment techniques in the child; the second deals with a logical sequence that reviews the relevant sleep physiological characteristics, tools of assessment, clinical disorders, and treatment. Each of the contributors has been involved in clinical or research activity related to sleep disorders in children.
