The thoughtful letter by Liberman and Mintz cautions against "overgeneralization" of our conclusions regarding specific elements of family intervention. Our assessment of our findings identified the specific elements that distinguished applied family management (AFM) from supportive family management (SFM).1 We did not compare family engagement and treatment with "no engagement," because that comparison has been studied extensively.
