THE NEW "Instructions for Authors"1 published in this month's issue of the ARCHIVES should certainly be of interest to prospective authors. General readers might be inclined to think that these instructions involve merely arcane details of minimal interest to them. However, we believe that the new requirements, which will eventually be reflected in ARCHIVES articles, will impact all of our readers in 2 important ways: enhanced clarity and increased accountability.
