To the Editor The Emergency Department Safety Assessment and Follow-up Evaluation (ie, ED-SAFE) study by Miller et al1 is an innovative effort to reduce morbidity and mortality by screening and intervening with patients who present to emergency departments after suicidal behavior or ideation. Bridge et al2 suggest that the study adds to a growing body of research that such intervention and screening can be lifesaving.
