Abstract

This book is a compilation of nine speeches presented at monthly intervals at the North Shore Hospital at Winnetka, Ill., of which Dr. Samuel Liebman is medical director. He is certainly to be commended on collecting a large number of authorities on each subject discussed at his hospital, the present volume being the fifth of such collections.

Dr. Meerloo discusses the development of the family in the technical age and indicates the difficulties resulting from technical invasions, by invasions of psychological concepts, and by the invasion of confusing semantics of love, the so-called process of glamorizing. Lucie

Jessner discusses the role of the mother in the family, and Claire M. Ness the role of the father in the family. Sidney Berman takes up the role of children in the family by adopting the concepts of Spiegel and Florence Kluchkohn to this area.
