Abstract

It was the editor's stated goal in this book to provide a wide range of primary source material by authorities on reading disability. In this effort Dr. Natchez has reprinted under one cover 42 articles from a variety of sources, mostly from educational, psychological, psychiatric, and medical journals, and various conference proceedings. The original dates of publication of these articles range from the 1920's through 1967, with 33 of the articles having been published since 1960. The earliest article is one by Samuel Orton, originally published in 1928.

For the reader's benefit, the editor has organized these articles into three sections. Part I deals with causation of learning disorders, with the articles grouped according to whether their orientation is emotional, neurophysiological, or cultural.
