I AM happy to announce the appointment by the Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association of Daniel X. Freedman, Professor and Chairman, department of psychiatry, University of Chicago, to the post of Chief Editor of the Archives of General Psychiatry. This action followed the intent for retirement of Roy R. Grinker, Sr., with the last issue of last year, having served since January 1951 as a member of the Editorial Board of the Archives of Neurology and Psychiatry, then becoming Coeditor with Har old G. Wolff Jan 1, 1956, and since July 1, 1959 full status as Chief Editor of the Archives of General Psychiatry. His distinguished career of two decades on the Editorial Board reflects his standing in general psychiatry in this country and abroad.
