Abstract

Repeated genital self-mutilation in a woman is described, associated with episodes of anorexia, bulimia, and a wide range of actingout behavior. This is discussed in the light of two cases previously reported in the literature and another case reported earlier, but little recognized. The relations between a possible syndrome of female genital self-mutilation, self-mutilation in general, and the dysorexia syndrome are explored.
