Our 5 Years of Achievements

Arch Surg. 2010;145(1):8. doi:10.1001/archsurg.2009.245

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 5 years as Editor of the Archives of Surgery. We have made great strides in maintaining our mission of providing a truly educational journal that helps the practicing surgeon serve his or her patient better. We have added numerous new features and augmented many existing ones as well. These include the Resident's Forum, the monthly Commentary, the rolling theme issues every year, many entertaining Invited Critiques, 2 Image of the Month features per issue, with 1 on the cover, Continuing Medical Education quizzes, and JAMA commentaries and abstracts. We have maintained our relationship with 3 societies: the New England Surgical Society, the Pacific Coast Surgical Association, and the Western Surgical Association. Some of our best articles come from these meetings.
