To the Editor I read with great interest the article by Peters et al1 regarding monetary compensation for living kidney donation and the related insightful commentary by Del Chiaro et al,2 both in the August issue of JAMA Surgery. The study by Peters et al1 reports the results of a survey3 that included a question regarding political orientation (to be specified as “Democrat,” “Republican,” “Independent,” “Other,” or “Don’t know”), but no data regarding this variable are reported. Could the authors provide those results or comment on their omission? It would be very interesting to see if political orientation was associated with differences in opinion on this thought-provoking topic.4
