In Reply We appreciate the insightful comments by Bernstein et al, who highlight that our methods rely on publications submitted under a resident’s current name and do not account for those that may have occurred under an alternate name, such as a maiden name or a name from a prior marriage. This name-based search approach, as Bernstein et al astutely point out, leads to underrepresentation of work by female residents, who are more likely than their male counterparts to have published underneath an alternate name.
