Dr Reisfeld has clearly had a significant experience with video-assisted thoracic surgery sympathectomy for hyperhydrosis. Despite his personal experience, it is still my impression that on a global basis the disease of hyperhydrosis is more common in the Asian population than the non-Asian population. The references cited in the original publication provide supportive data.
Perhaps the most important fact is that we both agree that the disease can occur in all ethnic and racial populations and that the treatment is the same independent of this identification.
