Dupuytren's Contracture is a compilation of 14 essays. Each is written in French and in English. Little is new, and most of the authors have presented brief resumes of their personal experience and techniques and preferance for the surgical treatment of Dupuytren's Contracture. Bibliographic references are scanty, and in some of these essays, no references are found.
It is a useful book of some of the current views on this disease and its treatment. For those less interested in this problem, the most disappointing portion is the brief resume of the life of Dupuytren—one of the most colorful figures in French surgery; brilliant, stubborn, and so powerful as to persuade the world there was no such thing as appendicitis from 1833 to 1886.
