Abstract

Arteriovenous fistulae were successfully obliterated by intra-arterial balloon occlusion in four patients. The fistulae involved the extracranial internal carotid artery in one patient and the vertebral artery in three patients. The technique is recommended for the treatment of arteriovenous fistulae in which conventional repair techniques would be hazardous.
