Abstract

The treatment of malignant lymphoma has advanced tremendously with the development of curative supervoltage radiotherapy and combination chemotherapy. The efficacy of these two modalities is well established. Why then, as expressly stated by the authors, should two surgeons write a book on the subject of malignant lymphoma? A concise answer to the question is found in their monograph.

A comprehensive review of the literature of the past ten to 15 years was combined with a summary of the extensive clinical experience of the Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital (EFSCH) at Columbia, Mo. The material is divided into the Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin categories of lymphoma. The chapters cover the subject in an orderly fashion, proceeding through the topics of the role of the surgeon in diagnosis, staging, and treatment of complications of malignant lymphoma.
