Abstract

The author, who is professor of anatomy and embryology at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, is known for his many contributions for our understanding of the anatomy of the hand. This book is a meticulous and authoritative text containing more information on this subject than can be found in any other single place.

Its chief features are the profuse serial sagittal and horizontal sections with photomicrographs and wash drawings. The accompanying text is written with scholarly precision.

This volume, which must be reviewed only in superlatives, will be most valuable in the library of anatomists and surgeons who wish a detailed knowledge of the hand. It is not meant for the dabbler.
