Abstract

Over the past several years a number of excellent surgical atlases portraying the operations available for head and neck cancer have appeared. However, until recently there has been a relative dearth of texts providing an in-depth discussion of when to carry out these various procedures as well as the nonoperative treatment of such patients.

Cancer of the Head and Neck does much to fill that void. It covers the breadth of treatment presently in use for this disease and spends as much time on treatment principles as on technical details. Each chapter was written by an authority in the field who relied not only on personal experience, but on the relevant literature as well, in discussing a given subject. This involves a large number of authors; however, the editors have kept overlap between chapters to a minimum.
