The Archives is pleased to announce the appointment of distinguished surgeons Gerald M. Fried, MD, CM, FRCSC, and Sherry M. Wren, MD, to our Editorial Board and Manabu Yamamoto, MD, PhD, to our International Advisory Board.
Gerald M. Fried, MD, CM, FRCSC, received his medical and surgical degrees from McGill University and completed his residency in general surgery at Montreal General Hospital and Ohio State University Hospital. He completed a fellowship in gastrointestinal physiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. Dr Fried is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He is presently the Adair Family Professor and chair of the Department of Surgery at McGill University and surgeon-in-chief of the McGill University Health Centre.

Sherry M. Wren, MD, received her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed her residency in general surgery at Yale University and University of Pittsburgh. She also completed a research fellowship in transplant immunology at University of Pittsburgh and a fellowship in hepatobiliary surgery at University of Southern California–Los Angeles. Dr Wren is certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is presently a professor of surgery and the associate dean of faculty affairs at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr Wren also serves as the chief of general surgery and assistant chief of surgical services for the Palo Alto Veterans Health Care System.
Sherry M. Wren, MD
Manabu Yamamoto, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from the Saitama Medical School, Saitama, Japan. He completed his surgical residency and a fellowship at the Jikei University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. Dr Yamamoto also completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, including flexible endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures, at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. He was conferred a PhD degree through his laparoscopic study from Jikei University. He is presently the director and chairman of Adachi Kyosai Hospital in Tokyo. Dr Yamamoto specializes in endoscopic surgery.
